Field Surgical Director, Rural Area Veterinary Services
Dr. Ahne Simonsen is field surgical director for Rural Area Veterinary Services, a program of the Humane Society of the United States. She completed her undergraduate degree at Tufts University, and after working in the documentary film and television industry, she received her veterinary degree from the Atlantic Veterinary College at the University of Prince Edward Island in 2007. Throughout veterinary school and as a new veterinarian, Simonsen worked with a number of high-quality, high-volume spay/neuter clinics and volunteered with local nonprofits focused on animal wellness and community service. In 2012, she joined the RAVS staff to continue her career dedicated to helping animals and supporting communities with barriers to accessing animal care resources. In her free time, Simonsen enjoys being outdoors, exercising, reading, gardening, and spending time with her family, friends and posse of pets—which currently includes a dog, two cats and four chickens.
