Jennifer Komis Phelps

Director

Jennifer Komis Phelps is the director of HumanePro.org at Humane World for Animals. She is passionate about supporting the awesome humans who work and volunteer in the animal welfare field. Jennifer comes from a multifaceted background in digital marketing, writing and editing, and mindfulness counseling. She has volunteered with animal rescue organizations in her home state of Kentucky, serving as medical foster care coordinator, foster parent and marketing support over the years. 

One of Jennifer’s main interests is the intersection of faith and animal welfare. She has led multiple "blessing of the animals" services, assisted in memorial services at a thoroughbred retirement farm, and organized other events that advocate for awareness of animal issues within faith communities. Jennifer holds a bachelor's degree in English, a master's in English and writing, a master of divinity degree, and a master's in marriage and family therapy. Jennifer’s daily schedule is managed by Copper and Gibson, two extra-large hound pups ready to romp at all times, and Cameron and Bruno, two adorable cats who enjoy parkouring off the walls and flopping at your feet for pets. When not managing the herd, Jennifer enjoys spending time with her husband, Erik, as well as reading, biking, swimming and yoga.
