Community-based interventions focused on creating equity in access to veterinary care and other pet services often fail to take into account the interconnectedness of human, animal and environmental health under the One Health framework. Further, such programs need to address social justice issues that translate into the barriers to accessing these services. Learn how HSUS’ Pets for Life and the University of Denver’s Institute for Human-Animal Connection’s collaborative study is leading to a deeper understanding of how animal welfare can contribute to broader community health.
