Job Description

The Animal Relocation Coordinator at ACCT Philly is responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing all out-of-state and larger scale in-state transports for dogs and cats in partnership with shelters, rescue organizations, and transport providers across the country. This role serves as the central point of contact for transport logistics, partner coordination, animal selection, documentation, and volunteer collaboration to ensure safe, humane, and efficient transports that support lifesaving outcomes.

Core Responsibilities

Transport Coordination & Logistics

Coordinate all out-of-state and larger scale in-state transports for dogs and cats with partner shelters and rescue organizations in various states.
Serve as the primary liaison with national and regional transport partners
Identify, research, and establish relationships with new transport partners across the country to expand transport capacity and geographic reach.
Create and manage transport schedules, timelines, and logistics to ensure smooth and timely movement of animals.
Set up and break down for transports on site
Drive animals to rescue partners as needed

Animal Selection & Readiness

Work closely with the Foster, Lifesaving, Behavior, and Medical Teams to identify and select appropriate animal candidates for transport based on health, behavior, and partner requirements.
Coordinate with boarding staff to ensure dogs are medically and behaviorally cleared for transport.
Liaise with shelter partners regarding animal approval and acceptance for transports.
Ensure all animals selected for transport are healthy, behaviorally sound, and meet partner organization standards.

Volunteer & Foster Coordination

Coordinate with the Volunteer Team to support animal care at ACCT Philly related to transport preparation, and to support dog walking and loading at boarding facilities on transport days.
Communicate with foster parents and volunteers to organize animal drop-offs at ACCT Philly and boarding facilities, ensuring clarity around timing, location, and expectations.

Communication & Compliance

Prepare and enter accurate animal information for health certificates and transport paperwork.
Coordinate with transport partners to enter all required animal information into transport system or manifest accurately and on time.
Maintain clear, consistent communication with partner organizations regarding animal status, approvals, and transport details.
Coordinate with ACCT Philly or offsite veterinary staff to ensure health certificates are completed and signed by the veterinarian prior to transport.
Maintain organized and up-to-date records related to transports, partners, and animal documentation.
Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple transports and deadlines simultaneously.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to collaborate across teams and external partners.
Experience working in animal welfare, sheltering, rescue, or transport logistics preferred.
Comfort working with databases, tracking systems, and detailed documentation.
Ability to problem-solve quickly and remain calm in fast-paced, high-pressure situations.
Passion for animal welfare and lifesaving initiatives.

Education and Experience

High school diploma or GED required; Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience preferred.
At least 1 year animal sheltering experience demonstrating increasing responsibility in animal placement areas including with rescue organizations
Prior experience coordinating animal transports or logistics.
Familiarity with ShelterLuv, ASPCA Ride or similar animal transport systems preferred
At leat 1 year experience working with animal rescue or sheltering volunteers and animal foster networks.

Physical & Work Requirements

Ability to work early mornings, evenings, weekends, and transport days as needed.
Ability to be on-site at ACCT Philly and offsite locations for coordination, loading, and drop-offs.
Must have and maintain valid drivers license with clear driving record and be willing to drive large vans/transport vehicles as needed
