Pet Helpers, founded in 1978 as Charleston's first no-kill shelter, is seeking a compassionate and skilled Associate Veterinarian with a passion for High-Volume High-Quality Spay/Neuter (HVHQSN) and shelter medicine. This position offers the opportunity to make a direct impact through HVHQSN surgeries, community TNVR (Trap-Neuter-Vaccinate-Return) initiatives, low-cost vaccine clinics, and medical care for shelter animals awaiting their forever homes. Responsibilities include participating in a rotating on-call schedule for shelter animals only, providing high-quality medical and surgical care, and helping advance innovative community programs that reduce pet overpopulation and increase access to veterinary services. Candidates must possess a DVM or equivalent veterinary degree and have a minimum of two years of experience in shelter medicine and HVHQSN surgery. We offer a competitive salary of $110,000–$130,000+ annually, depending on experience, along with a comprehensive benefits package for full-time employees, including health insurance, paid time off, continuing education support, professional dues and licensing reimbursement, and employee pet care benefits.
