Job Description

Following established protocols and procedures, the shelter cleaner is part of a team that ensures the facility and enclosures are clean, sanitized, and ready for the public upon opening. This can be a high-stress, dynamic environment. Patience will be your best asset.

Role and Responsibilities:
Under the direction of the Shelter Manager and as part of a team, the employee will clean the free-roaming rooms and the enclosures within. Maintain the overall sanitization of the facility, including mopping floors, doing laundry, scooping cat litter, washing litter boxes, etc., as directed.
Report any noted cat health or behavior issues to shelter technicians or shelter manager.
Successfully work with and train cleaning volunteers.
Participate in shelter meetings.
Communicate frequently with all SOCKS personnel via text, email, telephone, social media, and other means as available.
Completes all tasks in a timely manner.
Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:
High school degree or GED required.
One year of work experience in any field.
Must be comfortable with cats and kittens.
Clean driving record and a valid driver’s license.
Ability to effectively communicate both orally and in writing.
Ability to work with minimal supervision.
Ability to work with culturally diverse groups.
Ability to work cooperatively with team members, train and supervise volunteers, and the community.
