Role Description
The Shelter Supervisor is responsible for assisting in the oversight of all animal care, guest and adoption services, rehoming/pet support and foster coordination related functions for Paws4ever.
Primary duties include oversight and provision of direct animal care (on-site and through licensed veterinarians) and daily operations, animal intake, assistance with foster coordination and communication, assistance with rehoming/pet owner support and daily adoption center staff guidance. Additional primary duties include oversight of the adoption process on all platforms – email, phone and in-person. Oversight of all guest services, daily animal care operations, coverage for daily animal care responsibilities when needed, communication assistance with supporting veterinarians, oversee record keeping and animal intake.
The Shelter Supervisor serves as a representative of the organization to all Adoption Center guests, including but not limited to potential adopters and volunteers. They must answer questions and provide assistance as needed while maintaining a positive and professional demeanor. They will treat the guests, staff and animals of Paws4ever with respect and maintain a high standard of care as established by the organization and required by law.
The Shelter Supervisor reports to the Adoption Center Manager and ultimately the Executive Director and Board of Directors. Some evenings, weekends and holidays are required.
This is a full-time position at 40 hours per week and able to work 830-5, Tuesday through Saturday, off on Sunday and Monday.
Duties
Supervise shelter staff, providing guidance and support to staff and volunteers
Oversee mental and physical health of all animals in care – in house and in foster
Correspond with guests and adopters via email, phone and in person
Coordinate veterinary appointments
Maintain accurate files and documentation related to resident services and shelter operations.
Collaborate with community resources and agencies
Experience
Candidates should possess experience in the following areas:
REQUIRED – 2 or more years in an animal shelter setting and/or medical role in a veterinary clinic
PREFERRED – Supervisory experience in a shelter or similar environment
