Associate Vice President of Philanthropy
The Humane League
Job Description
ZRG Aspen Leadership Group is proud to partner with The Humane League in the search for an Associate Vice President of Philanthropy.Reporting to the Vice President of Development, the Associate Vice President of Philanthropy will help lead The Humane League’s (THL) Development department by overseeing its global donor relations work, including all one-to-one donor cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship. The AVP will be responsible for generating over half of THL’s annual fundraising revenue, and play a critical role in advancing sustainable, mission-aligned growth for a high-impact organization working to end the abuse of animals raised for food. It is anticipated that this role may play a key role in shaping fundraising strategy for a not yet-formed 501(c)(4) entity, ensuring distinct and separate direct fundraising and donor engagement for each entity.
The Humane League started with a bunch of scrappy activists in Philadelphia—determined to expose the cruelty of their broken food system—has grown into an unstoppable movement. Today, they’re a global force for animals, combining rigorous science, laser-like focus, and people power with the unwavering belief that animals deserve better. They’ve built a coalition that spans more than 70 countries. They’ve transformed how the world’s biggest food companies treat animals. And they’ve proven that factory farming—an industrial system that’s only existed for a century—can be dismantled.
At least nine years of experience in non-profit fundraising, including at least three years of experience in a major gifts fundraising program that raises at least $5,000,000 annually, is required for this position. Three years of experience managing staff and leading a team is also required.
The Humane League will consider candidates with a broad range of backgrounds. If you are excited about this role and feel that you can contribute to THL, but your experience does not exactly align with every qualification listed above, we encourage you to apply. All applications must be accompanied by a cover letter and résumé. Cover letters should be responsive to the mission of The Humane League and the responsibilities and qualifications specified in the position prospectus.
The salary range for this position is $135,000 to $165,000. The Humane League offers a comprehensive package of benefits, including 100% employer-paid medical, dental, and vision insurance, a 401(k)-retirement plan with employer match, and a phone and internet stipend. They also offer all full-time employees Mend Your Heart Fridays (paid THL holiday on the last Friday of every month), an annual $1,000 stipend for professional development opportunities, and generous paid time off.
The Humane League is committed to the inclusion of all qualified candidates. If you require reasonable accommodation in completing this application, interviewing, or participating in the selection process, please contact Jeanette Rivera-Watts at jeanetterw@aspenleadershipgroup.com.
