Job Description

The Director of Development plays a vital role in fulfilling Hawaii Island Humane Society’s mission by leading the strategy and execution of a comprehensive strategy for fundraising and Development. Building and leading HIHS’s efforts to acquire donors and diversify revenue, the Director will also drive donor loyalty, belonging, and retention efforts while promoting a Culture of Philanthropy at HIHS. Reporting to the CEO, the Director will partner with the CEO and Board of Directors on fundraising, will manage a portfolio of 80-100 households, oversee the Development Department and staff. The Director will serve on and partner with the Executive Leadership team.

Qualifications:
Passion for animals and their welfare
5-7 years of fundraising experience in nonprofit organizations, preference for those with Animal Welfare experience
2-3 years of experience managing individuals and/or a team
High School graduate or GED equivalent, required.
Bachelor’s degree, preferred.
Experience with major gifts and grants
Ability to work collaboratively and cooperatively as a team
Familiarity with CRMs such as Network for Good, Raiser’s Edge, and Salesforce.
CFRE and CAWA certifications are preferred
Ability to travel around Hawaii Island and as needed attend events on evenings and/or weekends.
