Overview

The Executive Director will lead our non-profit animal shelter into its next chapter of growth and community impact. This role is critical in overseeing daily operations, managing a dedicated team, and driving fundraising initiatives to sustain our shelter's mission of providing compassionate care to animals in need. The Executive Director will report to the Board of Directors and will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our organization.

Key Responsibilities Strategic Leadership

· Develop and implement the shelter's strategic vision in alignment with our mission and values.

· Foster a culture of compassion, collaboration, and accountability among staff and volunteers.

· Serve as the primary spokesperson for the organization, advocating for animal welfare in the community.

Fundraising and Development

· Lead fundraising efforts to secure necessary resources, including grants, donations, and sponsorships.

· Cultivate relationships with key stakeholders, including donors, community partners, and volunteers.

· Organize and oversee fundraising events and campaigns, ensuring maximum engagement and support.

Financial Oversight

· Maintain overall responsibility for the shelter's budget, ensuring responsible financial management and sustainability.

· Oversee financial reporting, payroll, and compliance with all applicable regulations and standards.

· Work with the Board of Directors to identify funding opportunities and develop long- term financial strategies.

Operational Management

· Strong organizational skills, with good attention to detail, able to find creative

solutions to last-minute changes

· Supervise daily operations, ensuring effcient workflow and high-quality care for all animals.

· Manage inventory of animal medications and supplies, ensuring compliance with health regulations.

· Implement and improve operational policies and procedures to enhance shelter effectiveness.

Employee Relations and Development

· Address all employee issues and concerns with empathy, ensuring a supportive and productive work environment.

· Organize training and professional development opportunities to empower staC and enhance their skills.

· Promote a culture of teamwork and collaboration, encouraging innovative ideas and solutions.

Qualifications

· Deep commitment to Pets Fur People’s mission and core values as a no-kill animal shelter.

· Proven experience in supervising staff and effectively managing upward relationships with the Board of Directors

· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with an ability to engage with staff, volunteers, Board members, and other stakeholders.

· Financial management skills, including budget preparation, analysis, decision making, and reporting

· Proven senior leadership experience, preferably in nonprofit management, animal welfare, or a related field.

Knowledge of:

· Modern office procedures

· Microsoft office applications, such as word, excel, outlook, and Powerpoint

· Computer equipment

· Correct English usage and grammar

· Pet Point Preferred

· Donor management software

Work Conditions: Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends as required. Occasional travel may be expected for community events and outreach.

An evaluation will be performed in 90 days from date of hire to assess job performance and salary. This evaluation will be performed by The Board of Directors.
