Do you have a passion for caring for animals, volunteer coordination, and program enhancement? Join the Humane Society of Central Oregon (HSCO) as our Foster Program Coordinator and play a vital role in ensuring animals receive specialized care in loving foster homes.

In this position, you will be at the heart of HSCO’s foster program operations, working closely with staff, volunteers, and foster families to coordinate the care of animals in foster homes and expand our foster network. From recruiting and training foster volunteers to ensuring animals receive proper medical care, your work will make a direct impact on the lives of animals in need.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Animal Care & Program Coordination (60%)

Ensure foster animals receive timely medical care by scheduling appointments and coordinating with veterinary staff.
Administer vaccines and medications in accordance with HSCO's policies. 
Monitor foster cases and maintain accurate records of animal progress and needs.
Maintain an organized and well-stocked inventory of foster supplies.
Assist with auditing and updating foster care protocols and assist in developing new initiatives to enhance HSCO’s foster program.
Assist with or perform euthanasia and end-of-life care as needed, following HSCO protocols.
Foster Volunteer Recruitment, Training, & Support (20%)

Recruit, train, and support foster volunteers through training sessions and one-on-one coaching.
Implement recognition and appreciation strategies to build a strong and engaged foster network.
Offer guidance and counseling to foster families, ensuring they have the resources and knowledge to provide excellent care.
Administrative, Reporting & Team Support (20%)

Assist in generating reports and track program data to measure impact and effectiveness.
Monitor and manage foster supply inventory to ensure fosters have essential resources.
Support HSCO policies, initiatives, and shelter-wide operations as needed.
Assist the Animal Programs Manager (APM) with administrative and program-related tasks.
Complete foster inventory annually.
Education, Training, and Experience:

2+ years of experience in animal welfare, sheltering, or a related field.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to educate and engage volunteers.
Knowledge of basic animal care, handling and behavior—experience with neonates is a plus!
Ability to stay organized, multitask, and adapt in a fast-paced environment.
Experience with PetPoint, Volgistics, or similar databases preferred (or willingness to learn).
Computer literacy with experience in Microsoft Office.

Minimum Qualifications:
High School Diploma or equivalent.
2+ years of animal welfare experience and knowledge of companion animal care.
Fear Free certification (or willingness to obtain).
Certified Euthanasia Technician (CET) in Oregon (or willingness to obtain within 6 months).
Must be 21+ years old with a valid driver’s license and insurable driving record.
Work Schedule:

This is a full-time (40 hours per week) position with a schedule that includes one weekend day after the initial training period. The exact schedule will be determined based on the candidate’s experience and program needs.

Pay: $20.00 - $24.00 per hour
