Job Description
Horse caregiver or Farm Hand on a private property through an equine foundation. This is a small rescue operation and a non-riding property. The animals here are well-cared for and not used for human purposes in any way. The position is open to discussion for either a future barn manager position (working position - not sitting in an office), a farm hand position (mowing, keeping up property, cleaning, etc.), or a combination of these two positions.
Must have experience working with horses, be able to operate farm equipment, and walk, bend, and lift 50-pound bags. Responsibilities include feeding, medication administration, turn out/in, grooming, stall and pasture picking, keeping barn clean, and property upkeep & mowing.
There is a small salary to start, depending on the position and background of the person hired. Two-bedroom housing, with utilities, internet, and satellite TV included. Housing is only suitable for one person, or possibly two people, depending on the situation. Companion animals are also considered on a case-by-case basis in accordance with the property insurance.
No smoking or drugs allowed on the property. No alcohol while working. No exceptions.
Positions are working positions, and you must be able to work long hours in heat (Georgia) and cold. Must have a good work ethic, be able to follow lists, and have emotional intelligence and good judgment.
