Job Description

Position Summary
Full-time, non-exempt role reporting primarily to the Executive Director and to the Treasurer for financial matters. Manages office administration, bookkeeping, and support for donors/volunteers. Ensures accurate financial records, smooth daily operations, and compliance with nonprofit standards. Requires attention to detail, excellent time-management and organizational skills, and the ability to communicate effectively with directors, staff, volunteers, vendors, and regulatory agencies. Since it is a small nonprofit organization, employees must be willing to perform other job duties occasionally as requested.​

Key Responsibilities

Office Administration (40%):
Handle phones, email, mail, and visitor inquiries in a professional manner.
Organize files, track supplies inventory, and maintain office equipment.
Coordinate calendars, meetings, and event logistics for staff and programs.

Bookkeeping & Finance (40%):
Process AP/AR, reconcile accounts, and prepare financial reports.
Manage bank deposits, petty cash, and donor receipts.
Support audits, budgets, and grant reporting under Executive Director oversight.

Program & Stakeholder Support (15%):
Maintain donor/adopter/volunteer databases and generate acknowledgments.
Assist with adoption/fundraising events (registration, payments).
Track compliance deadlines for licenses and filings.

General Duties (5%):
Proactively report issues to Executive Director; collaborate with team.
Uphold confidentiality and represent TGR positively.

Qualifications
Associate's degree in accounting/business (or equivalent experience); bachelor's preferred.
2+ years bookkeeping/admin experience, ideally nonprofit.
Proficient in QuickBooks, Excel, Google Workspace; strong data entry accuracy.
Excellent communication, organization, and customer service skills.
Ability to handle confidential financial/donor information ethically.
Valid driver's license; occasional lifting (20 lbs) and weekend work.

Physical/Work Environment
Office-based with occasional site visits to animal areas and off-site locations. Standard 40-hour week; flexibility required for deadlines/events. Drug-free workplace.​

Compensation & Benefits
Hourly wage ranges from $21 to $27 depending on applicants qualifications. Benefits per TGR policy.
