The Role
The Humane Society of Charlotte (HSC) is seeking a skilled and compassionate Relief Wellness Veterinarian to support our growing clinic team on an as-needed basis. This role is ideal for a veterinarian who has experience in high-volume essential care settings, performing basic exams for the community. The Relief Wellness Veterinarian will perform around 30 exams per day for dogs and cats only and will be working with publicly owned pets only.

HSC operates one of the region's leading essential care/wellness programs and serves thousands of pets annually through affordable, basic veterinary services. In 2025 our DVM’s performed over 8,000 spay/neuter surgeries and saw over 7,000 pets in our Essential Care Clinic. Our state-of-the-art facility includes an adoption center, spay/neuter and wellness clinic, pet help center, dog training spaces, and an education center.
Required Qualifications
Required: Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine; DVM or VMD
Required: North Carolina veterinary license
Preferred: Experience working a fast-paced clinic or GP setting
Schedule
Coverage: As-needed basis for vacations, leave coverage, and special projects.
Clinic hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM.
Compensation
Competitive relief compensation based on experience, surgical proficiency, and availability. Compensation will be provided at an hourly rate.
