Job Description

Position Title: Veterinarian
Reporting to: Medical Director
Employment Type: Full-time, Exempt
$100,000 - $120,000

The Humane Society of Utah is in search of a passionate, collaborative veterinarian for full-time at both of our Murray and St. George, Utah clinics to conduct surgeries (mostly HQHVSN and dentals) and hopefully grow with the clinic over time.

Work Schedule
• The position includes weekday, weekend and holiday hours requiring a flexible work schedule
depending on needs.
• Must be available Monday through Saturday and occasionally overtime.
• Hours and days are subject to change based on department demands.

Required Education and Experience:
• Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from an accredited college or university and one year of professional veterinary medical experience.
• Possession of a current license to practice veterinary medicine in the state of Utah.
• An interest in and willingness to support the mission, vision, and philosophy of the Humane Society of Utah (HSU).
• Ability to operate, maneuver, and/or provide simple but continuous adjustments on equipment such as surgical instruments, syringes, microscopes, diagnostic equipment, computer terminals, and/or materials used in performing essential functions.
• Ability to coordinate eyes, hands, feet, and limbs in performing movements requiring skill and training, such as performing surgery and giving injections.
• Vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with the public, fellow employees, and volunteers.
• Meticulous and methodical attention to recordkeeping and reporting.
• Skilled in conflict resolution if needed.
• Efficiency and competency working in a high-quality, high-volume spay/neuter setting.
• Effective time management skills and ability to thrive in a high-volume environment.
• Ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, climb, and manipulate (lift, carry, move) up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to work with animals of varying temperaments in noisy conditions.
• Ability to work with cleaning materials.
• Ability to use strength and agility while working with active animals.
• Responsible for always presenting a neat and professional appearance to the public.

Preferred Qualifications:
• Practice veterinary medicine within a high-volume surgical setting, striving to provide the best possible care.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of surgical procedures and companion animal health issues.
• Is committed to ensuring an organizational culture of inclusivity, collaboration, respect, and accountability.
