Are you looking for a way to practice veterinary medicine that feels genuinely meaningful?
Salem’s Sanctuary Veterinary Hospital is seeking a compassionate veterinarian to provide clinical care in our growing nonprofit, low-cost hospital. We are open to creating a full-time, part-time, recurring relief, or volunteer position based on your interests and availability.
Our hospital is located inside the Waynesville PetSmart and serves cats and dogs throughout Western North Carolina. We focus on making essential veterinary care accessible to families, animal rescuers, and community-cat caretakers who may otherwise struggle to obtain treatment.
The Position
This role can focus entirely on outpatient clinical visits. Surgical experience is welcome but is not required.
Depending on your interests, appointments may include:
Wellness and preventive-care examinations
Vaccinations and microchipping
Flea, tick, heartworm, and intestinal-parasite prevention
Heartworm and FIV/FeLV testing
Diagnosis and treatment of common outpatient illnesses
Practical treatment planning for clients with limited resources
Care for rescue animals and community cats
Client education and follow-up care
As the hospital grows, there may also be opportunities to participate in surgery, dentistry, shelter medicine, community outreach, or program development—but the position can be shaped around the type of medicine you most enjoy.
