Are you an experienced Veterinary Clinic Manager who thrives in a fast-paced environment?
Animal Care and Control is seeking a well-versed Veterinary Clinic Manager who is ready to hit the ground running. As Clinic Manager, you will lead a team of professional staff. We will look to you to help inspire, motivate, and encourage our team while providing care to the animals in our population. This position requires the employee to be in the office and or customer-facing for all hours worked.

We Require
- Three years of animal welfare and control experience, including two years as a supervisor
- Bachelor’s degree in Animal Welfare, Public Administration, Business Administration, or a related field
- Postgraduate degrees or professional-level related experience may substitute for the education or experience on a year-for-year basis
Other Requirements
- Must possess or have the ability to obtain by the time of hire a valid Arizona Driver’s License
- Must be willing and able to participate on the euthanasia team as required

Job Contributions
- Oversee all medical operations across two shelter clinics and animal health for all offsite locations, including the scheduling and administering of all spays and neuters, medication treatment, health assessments, euthanasia, and disease mitigation in compliance with animal welfare best practices
- Ensure the quality of programs and services offered meets service requirements, and are in accordance with the County and Department's procedures and philosophy
- Develop and implement operational improvements and ensure that the clinical team meets the needs of the program by identifying problems, researching viable alternatives, evaluating pros and cons, while making recommendations and providing cost/benefit analysis for management
- Organize and administer education of the Clinic Division staff, and provision of Clinic-relevant training for all Animal Care & Control staff for continuous improvement in performance and to improve the standard of humane animal care, quality of care, and services at MCACC. Responsible for keeping up to date with new regulations and programs that affect ACC to ensure compliance, and creating standard operating procedures for consistency
- Manage clinic inventory, including ordering medication, controlled drugs, surgical supplies, equipment, and janitorial supplies for use by multiple divisions. Oversee the scheduling of maintenance and repair on all clinic equipment. Approves all clinic surgical ordering, maintenance, and ensures all equipment is up to code.
- Participates in contract management and assists with bid solicitations
- Oversee and coordinate the management of multiple calendars across the Clinic Division, requiring a detailed understanding of capacity, workflow, and scheduling needs. This includes comprehensive administrative responsibilities that support both animal care operations and the coordination of clinical staff activities
- Oversee the euthanasia process and serve as the secondary supervisor for outcome evaluation. Responsible for managing deviated situations and ensuring proper resolution and adherence to protocols
- Ensure accurate recording, use, and control of drugs and supplies as required by Federal, State, and County laws and regulations
- Initiate and maintain good relationships with outside shelter/medical agencies, private clinics, and other stakeholders, to advance the mission of the Department and Veterinary Clinic Division
- Involved in and may perform humane euthanasia of animals when required, in accordance with departmental policies, procedures, and established protocols
Working Conditions
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk on all types of surfaces, sometimes slippery, and/or uneven, and rough. - You must be able to lift and carry up to 50lbs, and perform duties that require lifting, bending, and stooping. Environmental factors can be indoors or outdoors, working in the extreme heat of the Arizona summers
- Frequently handles and will be exposed to dogs and cats with unknown temperament or behavior. Work is predominantly performed in an animal shelter with excessive noise, animal waste and fluids, deceased animals, cleaning chemicals, anesthetic gases, and zoonotic diseases
- Work involves regular participation in animal care and control activities, including the humane euthanasia of animals, handling injured, ill, or aggressive animals, interacting with members of the public, and performing time-sensitive duties under varying stressful and high-pressure conditions
- May be required to travel between worksites and report to different shelter locations, as needed
