Job Description

Nantucket Island Safe Harbor for Animals (NiSHA) is seeking a compassionate, enthusiastic, and highly organized Volunteer & Foster Programs Manager to lead and expand our animal care volunteer and foster programs.

This position plays a vital role in connecting people, both adults and kids, with meaningful opportunities to support animals in need. The ideal candidate will have professional experience in animal sheltering or rescue, a strong understanding of animal care and behavior, and exceptional interpersonal skills.

The Volunteer & Foster Programs Manager will oversee the recruitment, training, scheduling, supervision, and retention of volunteers who support NiSHA's shelter animals and foster care program. This includes volunteers assisting with dog walking, cat socialization, animal enrichment, behavior support, foster care, and other animal welfare activities.

As NiSHA prepares to move into its new Animal Rescue & Resource Center, this individual will help develop a dynamic, well-organized volunteer program that enhances animal welfare, strengthens community participation, and creates a positive and rewarding experience for volunteers.
