Wellness Clinical Manager/Vet Tech

Position Summary:
The Wellness Clinical Manager/Vet Tech is an onsite, full-time, salaried leadership role responsible for overseeing clinic operations and providing hands-on support to ensure high-quality medical care for all animals. This position manages daily clinic functions, supervises and develops veterinary technicians and support staff, and works closely with veterinarians and leadership to maintain efficiency, compliance, and compassionate care.

Key Responsibilities:
Clinical & Technical Leadership
Lead and coordinate daily treatment and surgical support activities.
Assist veterinarians with examinations, diagnostics, anesthesia, surgery, dentistry, and medical treatments.
Monitor anesthesia and recovery; recognize and respond to complications.
Ensure accurate, timely medical recordkeeping and medication documentation.
Maintain high standards of animal welfare, infection control, and biosecurity.
Ensure compliance with AAHA standards and best practices.
Team Supervision & Training
Supervise, mentor, and train veterinary technicians and assistants.
Support onboarding and ongoing competency development.
Delegate tasks appropriately and ensure adherence to protocols.
Model professionalism, teamwork, and compassionate handling.

Operations & Compliance:
Ensure compliance with state regulations, controlled substance handling, and safety policies.
Assist with inventory management of medical supplies, pharmaceuticals, and equipment.
Maintain and troubleshoot medical equipment; coordinate maintenance as needed.
Support quality improvement initiatives and protocol updates.

Client & Stakeholder Communication:
Communicate clearly and compassionately with adopters, fosters, and staff regarding medical care.
Provide education on post-operative care, medications, and preventive health.
Address concerns professionally and escalate issues when appropriate.

Decision-Making Authority:
The Wellness Clinical Manager is responsible for executing day-to-day clinic operations and supervising staff in alignment with established protocols. The Wellness Clinical Manager must communicate any medical concerns to the Director of Operations for next steps. Final decision-making authority regarding policies, staffing, budgeting, procedural changes, client service standards, and AAHA compliance resides with the Director of Operations.

Qualifications
Minimum of 5 years of veterinary technician clinical experience required.
3–5 years of management or supervisory experience in a veterinary or medical setting required.
Advanced proficiency in anesthesia monitoring, veterinary general practice operations, diagnostics, and laboratory procedures.
Strong organizational, leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to lead in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.

Physical & Work Requirements:
Ability to lift and restrain animals up to 50 lbs (with assistance when appropriate).
Prolonged standing, bending, and manual dexterity required.
Exposure to animals of varying health and temperament.
Schedule may include weekends, holidays, or extended hours as needed.
