I’ll admit it: The highlight of Animal Care Expo for me is the shopping. As much as I learn from the workshops and the networking, it’s the exhibit hall where my adrenaline goes into overdrive.

There’s a world of businesses that serve the animal welfare field, and every year, about 150 of them unveil their latest and greatest innovations at Expo. As a longtime trap-neuter-return and cat rescue volunteer, I’m always on the lookout for new products that will help me outsmart a trap-shy cat or streamline tasks.

Expo is where I first encountered most of the equipment that now fills my garage (aka the local trap-loan depot). There are traps of every description along with monitoring devices, feral cat dens, cages designed for holding unsocialized cats with medical issues and nets for capturing the occasional escapee. My two pairs of bite gloves were carefully chosen after I tried on every pair on display at a previous Expo.

Online shopping has its conveniences, but there’s nothing like seeing new merchandise in person and chatting with the vendors.

In the Expo exhibit hall, I learn about everything from shelter housing to software solutions, as well as grant opportunities and the work of other nonprofits. I return home with a bag of goodies and a shopping list, along with notes, handouts and business cards that I share with my local animal sheltering and field services contacts.

If you’re looking for new services or items that will improve your day-to-day, there’s no place like the exhibit hall for finding what you need. You can even plan your shopping spree in advance with the conference app (search for Animal Care Expo 2025 in the app store).

Below is just a sampling of the exciting new products that you’ll find in this year’s exhibit hall:*
