New to Animal Care Expo 2024, attendees had two incredible opportunities to give back to our host city of San Antonio.  Stay tuned for community service opportunities offered for Expo 2025.

Community Animal Welfare Service (CAWS) Day

In celebration of National Chip Your Pet Month, seventy Animal Care Expo attendees joined the team at City of San Antonio Animal Care Services to host a free microchipping and pet food distribution event for the local community.

Volunteers assisted with food/product distribution, line management, microchipping and animal handling to serve over 600 families in the San Antonio community and administer over 75 microchips.  CAWS Day was made possible by generous donations from Chewy and AnimallTag.

Kindness Kits

We partnered with local organization, Haven for Hope – a place of hope and new beginnings that serves over 1,600 people daily, coordinating and delivering an efficient system of care for people experiencing homelessness in San Antonio. Knowing many individuals experiencing homelessness will not want to seek shelter without their furry friend, they have removed this barrier with their kennel services program. Their kennel program provides shelter, food, toys, blankets, vaccinations and veterinary services to further the goal of keeping people and pets together, and that’s a mission we are all about!

Expo attendees had the unique opportunity to assemble Kindness Kits in the exhibit hall, which included hygiene products, first aid supplies, non-perishable items, pet treats, toys, leashes and more, for Haven for Hope’s human residents and their pets! With our attendees help we were able to assemble 100 kits for humans and 100 kits for their pets.

The Kindness Kits were made possible by Farm & Yard with support from Shepard Exposition Services.
