Community Animal Welfare Service (CAWS) Day

Animal Care Expo attendees are invited to join the team at The Animal Foundation for our 2nd annual Expo for a CAWS (Community Animal Welfare Service) Day! Taking place on Tuesday, April 15, 2025, we will be hosting a free microchipping/vaccine clinic and pet food/product distribution event for the local community.

Volunteer roles will include assisting with communication, line management, floaters, runners, tag machine operators and food/product/distribution.  Depending on CAWS Day turnout, volunteers may be asked to help in other areas on campus such as adoption folder preparation, enrichment, laundry and general kennel support.

Volunteer hours are 7:30am-3:00pm PDT.  Transportation to and from CAESARS FORUM is provided as well as a plant-based lunch. As a CAWS Day volunteer, you’ll also have the opportunity to tour The Animal Foundation’s recently renovated eight-acre campus, one of the largest single-site open admission shelters in the nation, with more than 20,000 intakes annually.  You will learn about the Foundation’s lifesaving programs while touring adoptions and housing facilities, lost and found, veterinary services and clinic, and see the Foundation’s important work in action, guided by a knowledgeable staff member. Along the way, you will see and meet adoptable pets (dogs, cats, small mammals, reptiles, farm animals, and more) learn about the Foundation’s innovations in enrichment, health and welfare, volunteer programs, community outreach and engagement efforts and more.

Please note, Expo for a CAWS Day will occur at the same time as Learning Labs, so please keep that in mind when registering as you will be unable to attend both.  Advanced registration is required when you register for the conference and spots are limited so we recommend to register early.  There is no cost to attend.
