How can I stay engaged?

Are there discounts available for the conference?

Save by registering before the advance registration deadline on Thursday, March 4, 2027. You can also receive discounted in-person registration if you register in a group of three or more. Find our full breakdown of rates here.

Do you offer scholarships to Animal Care Expo?

Yes, with the help from generous sponsors, we do offer scholarships and awards to attend Animal Care Expo.  Scholarship applications for Expo 2027 will open with registration in Fall 2026. 

Where is Grapevine, Texas, and what airport should I fly into?

Grapevine is a charming city located in North Texas, just outside Dallas and Fort Worth, making it park of the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex.  It's conveniently situated near major highways and offers easy access to the surrounding area.

The two main commercial airports to fly into the Dallas–Fort Worth metroplex are Dallas Fort Worth International Airport (DFW) and Dallas Love Field (DAL). DFW is approximately 9 minutes drive from the conference hotel. DAL is approximately 27 minutes from the hotel.

What time zone will be used?

The schedule for the conference will be in Central Daylight Time.

Is there a host hotel or room block, and why should I book within it?

Yes, Expo 2027 is offering a dedicated host hotel room block at the Gaylord Texan Resort & Convention Center, providing attendees with convenient access to all conference activities. 

We strongly encourage booking within the official Expo room block using the provided reservation link.  Doing so ensures you receive the negotiated group rate, protects you from unauthorized third-party booking agencies, and keeps you within the main conference environment- making it easier to attend sessions, network and fully participate in the event.  Additionally, staying at the host hotel provides access to the hotel and convention center Wi-Fi, which is not otherwise available to attendees who stay elsewhere. Booking within the block helps us meet contractual obligations, which supports the overall success of Expo and helps keep future event costs manageable to attendees.

The $279 hotel rate is inclusive of the nightly resort fee, which includes:

• Daily half day bike rentals for two guests
• Daily use of Cowboy Golf Course Practice Facility with unlimited range balls for driving range, chipping & putting for two guests
• Daily Fitness Class for two guests
• Scavenger Hunts Map for two guests
• Daily Enhanced High-speed internet access (Wi-Fi)
• Bonvoy Elite Amenity (Gold members and above) - Daily Spa Pass

Is parking available at the venue?

Yes, parking is available at the Gaylord Texan Resort & Convention Center for both overnight guests and daily visitors. Expo attendees have access to a discounted self-parking rate of $10 off the prevailing daily rate (currently $29 per day). You'll need to stop by the Expo registration desk each day to get your parking validated to receive this discount. Valet parking is also available, and that rate is currently $49 per day. Please note that parking rates are subject to change at the hotel's discretion.

What meals are included in my registration fee?

Full conference registration includes (2) lunches and (1) dinner (during each exhibit hall session) as well as (1) breakfast (during the first Round Tables session).  Learning Lab participants also receive an additional lunch included with their Learning Lab fee.  All meals are noted on the schedule page and all food served at Expo is fully plant-based. 

Plant-based meals are a great way to save precious natural resources, spare animals from factory farms and help you feel better! They're not only environmentally friendly and health-conscious, but wholeheartedly help to support our mission—to tackle the root causes of animal cruelty and suffering to drive permanent change and create a better world for all animals around the globe.

I have special accessibility needs/dietary requirements; can these be accommodated?

We strive to make Expo as inclusive and accessible as possible.  During registration, you’ll have the opportunity to indicate any medically required dietary restrictions. This information will help us coordinate with our catering team to provide appropriate food options at each meal and, when applicable, ensure food labels clearly identify relevant ingredients and dietary considerations.

What workshops are being offered?

Will there be a virtual component of Expo or will workshops be recorded?

We do not plan to offer a virtual component for Expo this year.  We understand this may be disappointing for some, but we are excited to see everyone in person and make this year's event truly memorable.

Is Expo open to the public?

Expo is open to anyone, over the age of 16 who would like to register.  There are various registration types available to suit different needs.  You can choose from a single day exhibit hall pass, a registration for the first day only or a full conference registration, allowing you to participate in events according to your preferences and schedule.  View the registration rates and types here.

How old must I be to attend Animal Care Expo?

Animal Care Expo is a professional development conference designed for individuals working in the field.  While attendees aged 16 and older may attend, all minors (16-17) must be accompanied by a registered parent or legal guardian who will be required to chaperone them through the event.  A completed minor participation release form is also required for all attendees under 18.

Please note: children under the age of 16 are not permitted to register or attend the conference. All attendees regardless of age, must pay the full applicable registration fee.

What is the dress code for Animal Care Expo?

Attire for Animal Care Expo is smart casual.  We do recommend you dress in layers as temperatures in meeting rooms can vary.  Wear comfortable shoes for walking.  Temperatures in Grapevine in May on average range from 62 degrees F to 83 degrees F. 

Can I bring my animal(s) to Animal Care Expo?

Service animals are welcome at Animal Care Expo. Animal Care Expo abides by the ADA definition of a service animal. Service animals are defined as dogs that are individually trained to do work or perform tasks for people with disabilities. Examples of such work or tasks include guiding people who are blind, alerting people who are deaf, pulling a wheelchair, alerting and protecting a person who is having a seizure, reminding a person with mental illness to take prescribed medications, calming a person with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) during an anxiety attack or performing other duties. Service animals are working animals, not pets. The work or task a dog has been trained to provide must be directly related to the person’s disability.
