Pet food security programs: Keeping people and pets together
This is an archived session from 2020.
In just a few short months, lives have changed completely as the nation works to respond to the concerns of COVID-19 and the impacts school and company shut -downs have had on the economy, family structure, etc. We find ourselves looking down a long road for recovery and the loss of income for families has been catastrophic for food and housing security. Understanding that shelters will be looked at to continue to provide support for already homeless animals, but now also do all that they can to keep pets in homes, this track is focused on show-casing the tenants of successful pet pantry models. We will include data tracking and metrics for government support/awareness, integration with human feeding programs, safety in operation during the time of COVID-19, practicality, pest control, and other humane considerations for this community support program. Programming will also include presentation of other GreaterGood.org community support grants including pet medical funding, domestic violence programming support and homeless and underserved in-kind opportunities.
