Humane communities and social justice
Animal protection works to advance the status and safety of nonhumans. But what if a focus on punitive measures impedes these efforts? This presentation emphasizes the link between equity and social justice for humans and the well-being of animals in the same community. We will highlight legal and policy work focused on realigning our approaches to animal welfare. A series of examples will illustrate how these new approaches lead to better outcomes within the Humane Communities framework.
